Canada Passport Stamping Time from India — Real-Time Tracker

Your Canadian visa is approved and IRCC has asked for your passport. You hand it in at VFS, and then the wait begins: VFS tracking says little more than “received” until the passport is on its way back, and nobody publishes how long the stamping takes. People ask the same question in forums and WhatsApp groups every day: how many days is it taking now, and has anyone who handed in on my date got their passport back?

VisaTrackr answers it from real passports. When the visa office has put the visa in, VFS sends the passport back by Blue Dart. We read Blue Dart's public tracking for the Canada passports VFS India sends, every morning, and count for each hand-in date how many are back and when they left. That shows which hand-in dates are mostly back, how long the passports going out now have waited, and whether it is getting faster.

How to check your passport stamping status

Your VFS tracking ID starts with the day you handed in your passport: 20260825 in 20260825INCDPKT84800, with the centre's letters after IN (CD for Chandigarh, JU for Jalandhar). Pick your centre above and find that date in the chart: you'll see how many passports from your day are back and when the main batch left. If your date is older than the “mostly back” date and yours hasn't come, it is one of the slower ones, which happens.

Current Canada passport stamping times in India (2026)

Across all ten VFS centres, passports are taking about 16 days to come back right now. Right now VFS New Delhi is the quickest (about 12 days) and VFS Mumbai the slowest (about 22 days). Passports go back in batches rather than one by one, so the wait moves in steps: a quiet week, then a day when most of a week's hand-ins leave together. About one in ten come back much faster than the rest.

Which part of the wait this is

For Canada, IRCC decides first, online, while you keep your passport; IRCC publishes its own estimate for that step. Only after approval does it ask for the passport. This site measures what comes next: from handing the passport in at VFS to it being sent back stamped. It covers visitor visas, study and work permits and PR alike, since the tracking ID doesn't say which.
